Sanjeevini saving lives
“Blood is the most precious gift that you can give to anyone,” believes Dr. Abhishek Nanda, owner and moderator of Yahoo! Group Sanjeevini. He says that every two seconds someone needs blood, which can be arranged as 60% of the population is eligible to donate blood but we always have a crisis as only 5% of the population donates blood. To bridge this gap, he runs the group, spreading awareness about blood donation.
The group maintains a database of people, interested in blood donation, with their blood group and other details. Every week, the members have been able to fulfill 2 requests on an average and the membership is increasing by 3-4 people everyday. The vision is to consolidate local organizations in many small cities under one umbrella of Sanjeevini to create a helpline for blood donation.
Last month, the group organized their first blood donation camp in Goa in association with “HRiday”, the HR club of Goa Institute of Management (GIM). Seventy four students donated their blood at the camp, which was backed by a blood donation awareness campaign.
There is no substitute for human blood. To learn more about blood donation join Sanjeevini now. If you want to share an interesting story of your Yahoo! Group, please mail it to us at groups@yahoo-inc.com. Stay tuned for our next coverage.

“I am indeed thankful to the Yahoo! team for covering Sanjeevini on the Groups Blog. Thank you Yahoo! for providing the Yahoo! groups platform which made it possible for me to reach out to so many people.
The largest share for the success of the initiative goes to the members who have so passionately supported the initiative. My due regards to everyone who is a part of this initiative.
My compliments to the Sanjeevini team…Vaibhav, Mugdha, Nishtha and Nitiksh, without their support this initiative would not have come so far.
A heartfelt thanks Prakash, Shefali, Swami and Razzak…. for the encouragement and support you gave me; the initiative would have been just a dream had you not stood by me and helped it take off….THANKS!!
I sincerely hope that all you people will continue to support this cause and help the initiative reach a level where no one in our country dies due to the unavailability of blood.”
Regards,
Abhishek

Hi the Blood Givers!
Gr8. Congratulations for the life saving service. I am above 60 and dont think my blood, though pure, is medically acceptable. Sorry.
Maybe, you could use this nice phrase to promote blood donation which I had seen about 35-30 years in a literature by a well known pharma MNC.
BLOOD IS FOR CIRCULATION.
CIRCULATE!
Nice, na
Good luck
Ram
